Australian and New Zealand passenger traffic transiting the Trans Tasman are key markets. Minor but key nationalities also travelling between the two countries are transiting passengers from the USA, UK, Japan and Asian countries. In the year to December 2011 the total Inbound Visitor Arrivals equalled some 2,582,900 that amounts to a 2.4% increase in traffic compared to the previous year. Outbound trips by New Zealand Residents reached a total of some 2,079,700 or 3.7% rise on the previous year. Of these passengers, 971,051 travelled to Australia. In total approximately 2,117,300 passengers travelled between the two countries representing a average growth of 3.0%. The market is resilient, reaches overall forecasts and has weathered the effects of economic adversity.

Brisbane boasts restaurants, museums, parks, a bridge climb, ballooning, 4WD tours, jet skiing, skydiving, WRX experience, helicopter rides, river cruises and gliding activity. Sydney tourist venues are many but as well as abundant museums and restaurants it has, a harbour bridge climb, harbour cruises, quad and balloon rides, WRX experience, seaplane trips, helicopter and gliding rides and skydiving. Melbourne also has abundant museums, restaurants and river cruises. Plus the old Melbourne jail, skydiving, jet boating, helicopter rides, WRX experience, gliding and a luxury jet fighter experience ride. Whilst Wellington has its share of restaurants, Te Papa and the sea museum, it also has scenic gardens, parks, an observatory, helicopter and balloon rides, wine trails, bungy rides, gliding, light aircraft, skydiving, jet boating and clay bird shooing.
